"i hope this site doesn't end up like the last one :("

Hope has nothing to do with it--DO YOUR PART!

Twitter & Truth Social are dying. Their users are used to farming outrage for engagement. Don't give them any!

🚫 Don't argue with them!
🚫 Don't quote them!

This is just a sample of some of the "Biden/Netanyahu ties are strained/things are more fraught/a breach is definitely widening" stories written between November and February. In that time, around 17,000 people in Gaza were killed. www.thenation.com/article/poli...

Perfectly phrased by Mark Jacob (former editor for the Chicago Tribune.)

"One candidate is old and makes verbal flubs.

"The other candidate is old, makes verbal flubs, faces 91 felony counts and wants to be a dictator."

Obsessing on gaffes is lazy journalism
We should be less concerned about minor things politicians do accidentally than major things they do on purpose.

It agree it would be nice if the NYT only published anti-trans pseudoscience for clicks, bc then withholding clicks might matter, but that’s not how they make money and it ignores a more troubling reality: NYT editorial leadership is campaigning against the medical consensus on trans care for youth.

its a shame that hacktivism isn't really a thing anymore because I firmly believe that upwards of 75% of all anti-trans state legislators could be driven fully out of public life and possibly into prison if the contents of their home hard drives were made public

important to remember that "teens might be encouraged to transition when they don't need to" will always resonate to these people more than "teens might be prevented from transitioning when they need to" because to them the latter category doesn't exist because they don't think trans people are real
You might think that an article about kids being fast-tracked into hormones and surgery would include a single example of a kid being fast-tracked into hormones and surgery but nope!

Opinion | As Kids, They Thought They Were Trans. They No Longer Do.
Trans activists have pushed an ideological extremism by pressing for an unproven treatment orthodoxy.

Never been so glad I self-publish.
Hello!
In case no one told you, Harper Collins is demanding that their staff train AI with their authors' works without author consent.
But guess what?
They aren't the only publisher doing this.
I know of at least two more!

Over on the former Twitter I am still being blamed by certain dudes for SF/F going “woke,” and all I have to say to that is that if you think a middle-aged cis straight white man is largely responsible for the (in my opinion quite excellent) state of modern SF/F, you’re telling on yourself a lot.

there needs to be some sort of book version of the Larry Craig principle, where the louder and more vociferously someone screeches about fictional content, the more likely they are to be doing smth super heinous to real people
