Yes! This! I am a curmudgeon who wants stories that start when things get interesting and go in chronological order from there.
We're in the era of backstory. So many spy shows are padded with flashbacks to the hero's childhood, or when they joined the agency. Did we ever see Napoleon Solo's or Illya Kuryakin's or Emma Peel's or John Steed's origin story? No, because who gives a shit! Just get on with it and foil THRUSH!
I’m kind of bored of the ”8-hour movie” model adopted by streaming. It’s mostly poorly paced, with a flabby structure. There is a lot of people entering rooms waiting for someone to do something or say something. I like how Sopranos told a serialized and a self-contained story. More happened.
