Not me in my late 20s mourning that I donated all my toys from growing up because I thought I had to.

I had the gold and white webkinz and there must me an onion ninja because it’s hit me out of the blue today.

The arc of history is long and it bends off to the side a bit, it’s always been like that and history would prefer you not mention it because it makes them a bit self-conscious.

Books are medicine. Not because they're escapist, but because they're human.

Reading is slowness, and nuance, and discovery—and compassion. It's attention in a world that's trying, at every turn, to distract you.

An author shares the intimacy of her thoughts, and for a moment, we're believers.

My writing process is that I don't write, then for a while I write, then frustratingly I don't write again, then I'm old.

Bigotry is often a protective measure internally to counter insecurity or discomfort because personal growth and accountability is hard and deflecting is easier. This is further perpetuated by the ideas of capitalism that you are a product of your will and decisions, not system dysfunction.

Anyone remember when one of the biggest crazes during covid was people playing Animal Crossing and going nuts over getting Raymond and putting him in a maid outfit?

I miss that.
