One of the problems here is that it wouldn't just stop with a national language. Having English be the national language wouldn't mean our country is less linguistically or culturally diverse, but there's a history in this country of trying to assimilate other cultures by wiping out their language.
If you didn't want Puerto Ricans speaking Spanish in the US, you should've thought about that before you colonized the island and forcefully made it a part of the US.

Val and I checked repeatedly because we simply couldn't believe no national or local news organizations covered this letter from 18 AGs in support of trans youth care and against FTC overreach.

If you find any stories, let us know, but it seems to be our exclusive.
On Friday 18 blue state attorneys general BLASTED the Federal Trade Commission, telling it to back off trans youth healthcare and warning of an insidious attempt to reshape the regulation of medicine in the US.

And nobody covered it.

State AGs Defend Trans Americans in Stunning Rebuke to Trump’s FTC — Assigned

Ok, I can get behind “transgender for everyone.” Finally a party platform to believe in.

Speaking of voices under attack…can we be just as loud about Black journalists and comedians who are silenced, even by our so-called liberal outlets.

• Don Lemon
• Melissa Harris-Perry
• Tiffany Cross
• Jemele Hill

Ok, we “saved” Jimmy Kimmel. Now can we bring that same energy to migrants, trans people, BIPOC and women? Or are we just reserving that for rich white guys?

This type of rhetoric by The Atlantic is what's truly out of touch.

America is a country of grave inequality and under this current administration the inequality is going to be worse.

The Democratic party meanwhile preaches hope and change while the working class struggles financially.
“Countless Democrats are barnstorming the country and the media, stressing the need to broaden their party’s appeal and reach voters where they are,” Marc Novicoff writes. “But they have yet to prove that they’re willing to do what it takes”:
Democrats Don’t Seem Willing to Follow Their Own Advice
Party leaders know they need to moderate on cultural issues to win back working-class voters—so why don’t they?

Some of y'all have yelled at people for saying they won't vote for this guy—a man who wants to honor CHARLIE FUCKING KIRK BY CONTINUING "HIS WORK."

Never talk to me about this man again.
The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse. In a democracy, ideas are tested through words and good-faith debate — never through violence.

🏳️‍⚧️ 🎉I wish ill on JK Rowling :) 🎉 🏳️‍⚧️

Because she's a hateful bigoted FART who spends her fortune on the fascist and genocidal subjugation and erasure of trans people.

I love how I can edit my interaction settings but I can't fix a fucking typo in my post and I can't add content warnings. This place is better than mastodon how exactly?

It's nice living in a world full of cry babies who are scared to death of pills and vitamins but they think it's tooooooootally great to eat a dead cow that spent it's life being filled with vitamins and antibiotics. 🙄

I want to praise Kurzgesagt's new video for promoting making lives better for the animals humans consume and providing methods that you can hopefully do so.

But I also want to point out that's done the manner of "you should beat your kids for a reason instead of just because you feel like it."

This 300 character limit is enough to make me want to flip a table and go to Mastodon.

I'm too fucking autistic for anything less than 10,000.

Not entirely joking aside, 500 at minimum would do.

If you went vegetarian for the animals, I hope that at some point you would consider going one step further and going vegan. I know this can be difficult for some. Cheese is hard to quit for one, and for another it can further limit your options when it comes to takeout and dining out with friends.

I need an actual avatar…

For those of you too young to know what an avatar is, it’s a pfp. I’m in my late 30s and set in my ways lol

Lol. Mildly frustrating that this place doesn't have a content warning toggle or an edit button. Two things I didn't remotely miss about Shitter.

Well, lol. That's "nice".

I feel like one thing a bunch of people fail to realize about vegans who can't stand seeing other people eat meat is, they're aren't reacting that way because they're assholes.

They're doing it because they see a corpse on your fork.

Imagine how you'd feel seeing someone eating human steak.

Alright. I'll give this place more of a genuine try.

Trying this on iPad and sadly the experience is lackluster.

Yo. I'm really just here to give this place a look. I don't plan on using it but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious 👀
