The 25th anniversary of Bush v Gore is today. The conspiracy mongering & corruption of the GOP has been brewing for a long time.

Roberts, Barrett and Kavanaugh were all on Bush's legal team, where they pushed unfounded legal theories. SC justices were already enmeshed in voter fraud myths.
Here's Sandra Day O'Connor endorsing News Max levels of voter fraud conspiracies in the 2000 election.

Went and met my MP again, to urge them and their party to do more to fight the far right. They didn't know about tomorrow's far right rally planned for central London, until I told them about it. So I guess I did something.

Someone I went to college with made a brief appearance on the edges of a dream last night. This morning I see their name in a post about Reform and am like 'no it can't be...'. And it turns out they've become a senior adviser.

Thing I learned today: “duck tape” is a far older term than “duct tape.” It used to be made with cotton duck. “Duct tape” is a combination of people trying to make sense, and its association with post war use in HVAC systems.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Had to look up who this tiresome columnist was (and thanks to Google's 'source' feature didn't have to give them a click). What data do they have for 'it is pretty obvious' and 'being wildly overdiagnosed'? This is the next wedge issue we're importing from US MAHA.

Given how obsessed Musk is with biological lineage, it’s worth noting that his Canadian, maternal grandfather was so into South African apartheid that he moved across the world in order to help protect it from “the commie Jews” who he thought were trying to destroy it. bsky.app/profile/seth...
Today I learned that not only was Elon Musk's maternal grandfather a conspiracy-obssessed, antisemitic and white nationalist supporter of Apartheid, but he was also into alternative medicine (he was SA's leading chiropractor) and was an amateur engineer/aviator who died in a plane crash.
