Some really helpful (and doable) ideas here. I especially love ‘Maintain one “competence activity” outside your PhD.’ Mine is gardening. #phdsky
Doing a PhD can feel like wandering through a forest with no map. You’re constantly questioning whether you’re smart enough, working hard enough or heading in the right direction. If you’re feeling this way, you’re not alone. More importantly, you’re not broken. patthomson.net/2025/10/25/b...

I hadn’t realised that Turkey had such high inflation rates.

Striking example:
2021 guidebook ticket price for Topkapi Palace, Istanbul was 65 Turkish lira.
Today tickets cost 2,400 lira!

Some good vaccine news!
i challenge you to find cooler news today than “despite all odds against American scientific research rn, a CO researcher developed a temperature-stable, single dose rabies vaccine that works bc of particles coated in CANDY & SAPPHIRE, & it could help reduce rabies deaths in places w/o electricity”
Happy (rainy) Tuesday, #Boulder. I've got a new story for you all about a new temperature-stable, single-injection rabies vaccine developed by @colorado.edu researcher Ted Randolph.

It’s a labour of love.
We received 2 year British Academy/Leverhulme small grant (£6000) for academicswives.co.uk research. We’ve squeezed out a video, podcast, website, blogs and articles - no budget for our time. 100s more wives to follow up. Standing on the shoulders of giants’ wives.
We got AHRC funding, but only for 3 years! Over that time we put over 900 women active in 1 way or another in archaeology, history & heritage into our @beyondnotables.bsky.social database. Some well known, but the majority not (some still have no first name!). 3 years will only take you so far...
