why is this mayoral election different than all other mayoral elections?

in all other mayoral elections, we get to see andrew cuomo lose but once. but in this mayoral elections, we get to see him lose *twice*.

Firing a Black woman for quoting Kirk’s horrific statements about Black women is insane. It seems the Washington Post would rather perform politeness (and demand that the people Kirk harmed do it too) that tell the truth: karenattiah.substack.com/p/the-washin...

If you have a R senator, seriously call their office tomorrow & say vote against this bill. Say you don’t wan’t three times the budget of NASA going into a sprawling immigrant detention infrastructure. That you don’t want to kick folks you know off Medicaid. That you don’t want solar taxed. reps.fyi
The budget is a statement of values. The budget is policy. This budget is awful.

The idea that California — home to Silicon Valley & Hollywood — can’t raise taxes on the rich to fund Medicaid for all poor residents is absurd.

Balancing a budget by taking away healthcare from the most vulnerable isn’t “responsible.” It’s social murder.

Sounds like the nationwide injunctions on noncompete agreements, student debt relief, the COVID vaccine mandate, and much more are all lifted now? Or wait is this only that nationwide injunctions aren't allowable for Republican policies?

These 37 House Dems agree with Republicans that an adult international student sitting in a parked car with a can of beer should be deported.

I'm not being sarcastic. That is what the bill they voted for would do.

All of these violent, lawless ICE officers terrorizing communities and hiding their faces weren't just hired this year.

It's why dismantling ICE as an agency was so important and remains so. These people are unfit to be public servants if they hate the public.

Many people are “anti-immigrant” in theory but pro-immigrant when it comes to their own neighbors and coworkers.

Instead of running to the right on immigration, Dems should lift up stories like Carol’s and make the affirmative case for immigrant rights.

I’m finding two bits of centrist punditry hard to reconcile:

1. Liberals are too pedantic and condescending; and
2. Liberals are failing to put forward a values-driven framework for how people (particularly men) should live their lives.

Which is it??

Horrifying. This decision will hurt millions of pregnant women nationwide. Without a CDC recommendation, insurance often doesn’t cover vaccines. So this policy will deny people healthcare on account of their pregnancy, effectively a form of sex discrimination:
