On a daily (hourly?) basis, I am reminded of Joseph N. Welch’s question to Sen. McCarthy:

“Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?”

This times so many.

As well as destroying the lives of our former NEH colleagues. All for naught.
Last year at this time, I had just learned that I would receive a 12-month NEH, and I was excitedly starting to lay plans for a year of research. DOGE halted those plans by canceling my grant outright. Now DOGE is gone too, having accomplished nothing but harm to others. What a year.

Taking a moment to visit Bluesky while we’ve popped over to Louisiana for the afternoon, because it’s not available in Mississippi 😬

Y’all. Between the idiocracy in charge of our nation, all those techbro dumbasses, and the rise of AI, I am growing sooooo egotistical. It doesn’t take much to see that I am clearly smarter than all that mess.
(And so are you)

The cuts at the National Endowment for the Humanities go far deeper than any of these agencies - almost 70% of 179 people were terminated, despite no change to the agency's budget.

There were no savings here - only idealogical destruction. #NEH

#OTD in 1965 (60 years ago!), the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act was enacted, stating that "the arts and the humanities belong to all the people of the United States."

Today we're still mourning all that's been lost at #NEH, and hope that it will someday be restored.

Over the weekend, I achieved 21 years of federal service. Twenty of those years have been enjoyable and meaningful, carrying out the agency mission and serving the American people. One of those years has been a waking nightmare.
