Two coders have already infiltrated the DOGE website and left their own messages on it at the time of 404’s reporting on Thursday evening: “THis is a joke of a .gov site,” said one, and “THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro” said another.

If people send their tax money to a gov’t in which their elected representatives have no control over how that tax money is spent (because the executive has taken over that role), then isn’t that “taxation without representation?” I seem to remember a historical event inspired by something like that

A swastika t-shirt is the only item on the Yeezy website.

Powered by Shopify.

It's not the first time Shopify has powered stores selling items with Swastikas. I've reached out to them about this before, and they kept powering the stores.

The only thing they changed, eventually, was their rules.

His illiquidity is the danger. He has to keep doing shit like this. The Not Actually Real Money Bus must be kept above $200 billion or it will explode. All of this shit is basically debt and blackmail and it's forcing people like Musk into increasingly precarious and dangerous positions.
may be beside the point/extremely obvious but i feel like you can only ignore extreme wealth inequality for so long before it metastasizes into something that fundamentally remakes and destabilizes the world by giving people access to so much money that they are fully above consequence

The dynamics of this horrifying political moment reflect years long trends w/in our information systems: audience capture of an influencer by conspiracy theorists who are motivated by the interactions to descend further into those theories, attracting more attention and gaining power along the way.
Over on X a bunch of dimwits are posting every nonsense red-yarn-on-chalkboard conspiracy theory bullshit about what USAID funds (terrorists! censorship! woke prosecutors! campus protests!) and Elon is just retweeting each one as if they're true... leaving out the fact that they're all bullshit.
