I just spent a week in Portland. The city was busy with tourists and locals enjoying late summer. A prosperous downtown. Factually, there is no observable evidence of a city needing military intervention. A reminder that this is not normal. Please pay attention.

Data analysis indicates US businesses and consumers are paying at least 3/4 of tariffs:

First chart is Goldman Sachs' estimate of breakdown. Second is Capital Economics showing little decline in pre-tariff import prices, a sign exporters aren't cutting costs to offset duties:

IG update: As of May, IRS workforce was down 25% from this year's 103,000 starting point.

Pretty even spread over job types, including a 26% decline in revenue agents (auditors).
