in lieu of a proper intro post (you can read my bio for the basics), here's a video summarizing some of my beliefs, things I've said, and silly antics

I'll post more interesting quirks and whatnot below this post
Today: "class I want you go to home and play with while loops and counting, pretend you're in like preschool"

you got it, professor!
computer science exam today; student asking if we can listen to music

“Sorry, no - and I hate that I have to treat you like you’re 3 years old like that”

say LESS, professor, I’m down with that

pretty happy with boot.dev so far - solidly reinforcing my algo design/implementation class lessons, while getting me back up to speed on Git, basic shell commands and whatnot

while backend stuff isn't necessarily my main interest, in terms of web stuff I definitely lean more backend than frontend

and maybe even for outdoor trips

I mean really, anywhere and everywhere
equally relevant for music festivals 🤭
sitting next to the porta-potty bathrooms at Folsom Street fair and I’m just going “pff, amateurs” ;3

today’s college class turned pretty quickly into “eat the rich”, and we were all here for it (including the professor!)

talking about economic and social inequality from past to present

AT LEAST 10 STUDENTS

1 IN 8 IS JUST FULL SEND “LET THE AI DO MY WORK”
compsci professor laid the smackdown today: “all AI slop submissions get a 0 going forward, no second chance”

in a class total of ~80 (between in-person and online) I think I’m fine

gotta wonder what % of the class is cooked, though

the rare times I wander over to X for work-related stuff it just all looks like slop - not AI slop, but very similar in tone/consistency

accidentally noticing details saves the day once again!

“why the fuck is our local cloud server struggling”

me: “hey why’s this VM say it’s like 95% full on storage?”

on one hand, AI tools are very good at bouncing ideas off of to help reinforce learning - this can be a legitimately very great tool for education (with caveats! gotta be sure to double-check and verify)

on the other hand, I couldn't resist

I have been “Vee” for well over 5 years now (and soon, legally!)

never have I been more rattled than one of my professors picking on another student in my class with the same name as my deadname

hearing it over and over 🫠

Wow and here I thought 'egg computer' just referred to suspiciously feminine programmers
Every year, we get closer and closer to a true “Egg Computer”.

We’ve already made:

- Egg Transistors

- Egg Resistive Memories

- Egg Supercapacitor electrodes

- AND + NOT Logic Gates

Albumin is a hilariously good organic semiconductor material.

age verification restrictions are inherently unjust even if you solve all the issues around privacy or data leaks

gating access to information based on intrinsic traits (yes even age, yes even porn) is fundamentally evil and provides no real benefit other than the censor’s moral self-indulgence
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

something I’ve floundered with in the past is the ability to read, /fully understand/, and then follow /directions/

slowly getting better with that in college
