The Appalachian Mountains are the same mountains as the Scottish Highlands and the Norwegian fjords. They just got separated when the continents drifted and the Atlantic filled in.

I've been saying for a while that when a real conspiracy emerges the Conspiracy Theory Complex will be some of the least interested people in it, because the point of the Conspiracy Theory Complex is not to discover conspiracy but to create rationales to justify untenable beliefs.

From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."

What the OP and the policymakers have in common is a misunderstanding of feudalism as a society ruled by lightly taxed landowners who hold disproportionate political power to dominate and extract wealth and labor from their inferiors.

OP and policymakers just disagree about worthiness of goal.
While I get this person means that Republicans are attempting to usher in a very bad, unequal form of government, I literally have no idea why this could be read a "feudal" or what people think "feudal" means at this point. (This is quite aside from the fact that feudalism never existed ofc.)

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

We had people over for food and baseball 23 times between the opening of the playoffs on September 30 and last night. What a joyful thing that was.

I came across this from that other place, written 12 days after J6 and two days before Trump was evicted and Biden took over. We are in the trouble we’re in because Trump was not held accountable for his crimes, particularly inciting a ldeadly insurrection. Accountability is key for our future.

This is literally the argument that VP of the Confederacy Alexander Stephens gives in his famous Cornerstone Speech. (I know Serwer knows this).
my favorite thing about this story is he's like "I was just kidding about the nazi thing" and then they note that at several points he unironically says nazi shit like "The founding fathers were wrong that all men are created equal … We need to reject that part of our heritage,”
