I love my students. They’re serious, open-minded, intellectually curious, hardworking. When I tell people that, they usually say “REALLY??” Because they think they’re all cancel culture militants or woke snowflakes or whatever the propaganda says this week.

An absolute must read thread
Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

I'm pretty sure he was subtly referencing Pozzo in Beckett's Waiting for Godot and commenting on way the universal absurdity of human existence robs all our actions of any ultimate meaning. She could have clapped back with some Camus.

I refuse to believe we live in the stupidest timeline.
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

Wow
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

Imagine the very people who made you laugh your head off when you were 18 and living in cheery, optimistic times also found a way to make you laugh in the midst of our dystopian hellscape today!

Brilliant Waiting for Godot. It makes every character so fresh. Bravo @alexwinter.com et al

I'm preparing a grad seminar and haven't had time to read any of the Epstein stuff. But maybe it's better to wait until people have sifted through and discovered the most important stuff. Feel free to let me know if there's anything I might want to know right away!

Why a bunch of Senators who are retiring are leading the negotiations is something to really think on
I don't know what the Senate is going to do. But if they do in fact fold in exchange for nothing, they will be living up to past performance. To expect the Senate to carry out the will of the American people is to misunderstand why it was created in the first place.
