Hello, I am a scientist in a film. All my liquids are brightly coloured. The time it takes to perform tests and experiments is dependent on plot requirements, not biology or chemistry. Also, my safety glasses are extremely stylish.

NSF announced that they will not be accepting new Major Research Instrumentation grants for FY2026. Another step backwards for US academic scientific research. It is like we are trying to fall behind the rest of the world.

Always the most bittersweet day of the year. I love celebrating students at graduation but I also hate the fact that they are leaving. This group of research students did amazing work both in and out of the lab. I can't wait to see what their futures bring! Congratulations Class of 2025!

Nobody wanted to talk today in class so I decided it was a good day to start handing out stickers. Not only did people start talking but students that hadn’t talked all term started answering questions. Evidently college students, like elementary school kids, respond to stickers.

I really love how colleges are renaming DEI offices to things like "Student Engagement and Retention" or "Outreach and Support". I know it doesn't go towards hiring policies but it keeps spaces for students to feel support and belonging while having the bonus of being kind of subversive.

"It was a Roman salute" is an updated version of "actually, the Buddhists also used swastikas." If you are using it post-1945, you know very well that the association has changed.
