This is "heads I win, tails you lose." Trump lost control of his own party on this. That's a big, big deal. He said "sure, vote for it," because he knew he was losing.

I think part of Richard Hanania’s weird interpretation of American Beauty is that it came out when he was 15, around the same time as Mena Suvari was also in American Pie (same year), so he probably assumed both Chris Klein and Kevin Spacey’s attraction to her were as natural as his own.

The journalists who remain on Twitter (especially sports journos) are diminished by their choices. I no longer read or follow them, unsuscribed all of those accounts. The real kicker, I don't miss them even a little bit. Whatever they were selling means nothing under fascism.
I quit the former Twitter two years ago this week, and I am here to tell you that my online life got a lot better for having left it. In two years I've not been tempted to go back, and I haven't felt any penalty in either career or community for not being there. It's nice to be here and not there.

God this is so utterly despicable. Trump is “he was no angel”- ing a journalist who was murdered and dismembered with a bone saw by agents of an authoritarian regime.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."
