Monthly jobs reports are like bathroom scales: step on once and you get noise, step on for months and you see the trend. September’s number says “still standing,” the higher unemployment rate says “maybe cut back on the economic junk food.”

“Iowa City eliminated bus fares in August 2023 with a goal of lowering emissions… The two-year pilot program proved so popular that the City Council voted this summer to extend it another year, paying for it with a 1% increase in utility taxes and by doubling most public parking rates to $2 from $1”

Your premiums, Argentina’s universal care. #econsky
You know who has Universal Healthcare provided by the government? Folks in Argentina do and the US taxpayers sent them $40 Billion Dollars so they can keep it. How are your premiums doing?

The Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index is at its 2nd-worst reading in history. This week, I am looking to the Consumer Staple sector of the S&P 500, the only sector in the red this year.
This will show the difference in the AI economy v. consumers.

Climate risk is fundamentally financial risk.

It’s rising insurance premiums. It’s housing instability. It’s global competition.

This is insane…

The Fed Reserve just pumped another $24 billion into the U.S. Banking System through overnight repos (and $125 billion over the last 5 days), amid fears of a liquidity crisis.

This amount far surpasses even the peak of the Dot Com Bubble.

This is crazy.

The average US taxpayer spends $36 a year on SNAP

You know what they spend on corporate subsidies? $670

Poor and disabled people who need food are not the problem

If you’re angry about “your money” feeding people but not angry it’s giving tax cuts to the wealthy?

You’re doing their dirty work.

Matt Hall and House Republicans have one job. The budget. They need to stop the charade and get it done.
