The Witch Head Nebula! 🌌

This is my latest photo of the haunting Witch Head Nebula, captured through a small telescope under dark skies.

It's a reflection nebula that glows primarily by reflecting the light of the nearby bright star Rigel in Orion (you can't miss it!)

I need you to listen to and share this story - of how Trump is preparing to abandon Ukraine in exchange for Russian money for his billionaire friends.

It could be the greatest corruption of American foreign policy in our history. Russia gets Ukraine. Trump's friends get rich.

This is Brenda and Linda. They were brought into the shelter together, and Brenda had no interest in being separated from her friend. She jumped the kennel wall to get to Linda, and made sure everyone knew they're a package deal. The best news? It worked: They were adopted together. 14/10 for both

For decades, Parkinson’s research has focused on genetics, on finding the rogue letters in our genome that cause this incurable disease. But researchers are looking at another unsuspecting cause: environmental factors.
Scientists Thought Parkinson’s Was in Our Genes. It Might Be in the Water
New ideas about chronic illness could revolutionize treatment, if we take the research seriously.

The last stitch usually turns out a bit loose. If you seam your knitted piece to another, that won’t be a problem. But for “free-standing” pieces there is a fix:
Knit to last stitch, lift the stitch below the last stitch onto your left needle and knit the two stitches together 🧶 #knitting

Can ecosystems that lose large carnivores like wolves, bears, or pumas revert to a pre-extinction state when they are reintroduced? Check out my latest to learn why Yellowstone has become the preeminent place for scientists trying to answer that question. insideclimatenews.org/news/2211202...
Reintroduced Carnivores’ Impacts on Ecosystems Are Still Coming Into Focus - Inside Climate News
Yellowstone has long been a mecca for scientists studying how predators affect everything from elk grazing to vegetation height. They are still debating how to make sense of what they’ve learned.

Colorado brought wolves back for the first time in 80 years, but now a few years into the historic reintroduction, many of them are dead.

Restoring predators is never simple and the real test is just beginning.

Dryer balls were highly praised in almost every article I came across. I made a few balls using the leftover wool I had in my stash and tried them out. Well, they worked like magic – soft and fluffy laundry, no static and no lint.

Small trove of caps and cowls going to Rose Haven Women's Day Shelter.

Yarn for the cowls is recycled from mill ends and named for staffers' pets: Bluesy (short-coat collie), Karl (tuxedo cat), Mabel (tortoise/tabby combo), and Zeke (a Bengal). 🙂
