For no particular reason tonight I’m reminded that Chuck Schumer runs all of his decision-making through an imaginary Republican family that lives in a LI suburb where 1.1% of the residents are Black, 97% live in a SFH they own, and 3% are under the poverty line

Q: Stefanik has called Mamdani a 'jihadist.' Do you think you're standing next to a jihadist right now?

TRUMP: No, I don't. I met with a man who's a very rational person

Reporter to Trump: Would you feel comfortable living in NYC under a Mamdani mayoralty?

Trump: "I would. I really would. Especially after the meeting, absolutely."

What is even happening
Trump's being remarkably cordial with Mamdani. Asked about Mamdani's accusation that he's a "despot," he says: "I've been called much worse than a despot, so it's not that insulting."

"A lot of my voters actually voted for him and I'm okay with that," he also says.

Will the paperback edition of Nuzzi’s book have an update on how many kids die?
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

Head-down, two-handed texting on the highway; texting while turning; texting while intentionally running reds or stop signs—all day, every day

Uh, quick, someone set up a 50-cop checkpoint to catch guys on bikes going 18 mph delivering cupcakes
We’ve 100% lost the war on using phones while driving and it’s the worst.

Before his election, Mamdani was adamant: The CCRB should get final say in NYPD discplinary cases. Now, after retaining Tisch as NYPD commish, Mamdani's changing his tune, saying he's mainly focused on ensuring CCRB's "recommendations" are "taken seriously." www.nydailynews.com/2025/11/20/m...

Not as important as when Brown reinstated an SAT-ACT requirement for admissions
Weird. Nothing on the @nytimes.com homepage about the President of the United States calling for the execution of members of the opposition in response to their political speech.
Important: House Dem leaders just said Trump's call for execution of Dems has prompted them to contact US Capitol Police and House Sergeant at Arms to "ensure the safety of these members and their families."

Treat Trump like an unhinged menace. He's weak and in deep political trouble. Don't let up.

I’m sure this confusion has absolutely nothing to do with college costs being one of the main pillars of Republican and right-wing attacks on higher ed, which many Democrats greet with “we surely all agree that college is too expensive” rather than “you did that”
Costs (the money needed to provide an education) have risen. Prices (what students pay) have been at or below inflation for the past decade. That doesn't get nearly enough attention.

NPR folks, you know where to find me.
College costs have risen dramatically in the last 20 years. Here's why

NEW: Sean Duffy frequently calls safety his “top priority” as transportation secretary. But I spent months wading through regulatory notices and found something far different: that USDOT has been delaying, weakening and killing dozens of safety rules, many opposed by the transportation industry.🧵

They are actually crossing the $2 billion mark this fiscal—a cool $13,333 per bused student, a figure that will easily rise to $15,000 by the end of the deal

Yonkers spends $5,500 per student, someone who knows how to budget this* please help NYCPS
