When I was maybe 5, all I wanted was a carousel cake for my Bday—some kind of proto Martha Stewart concoction I’d seen in a book. My mom, god bless, is not artistic. Anyway I got a shambolic tinfoil tent that smoked up when the candles were lit and melted the icing.

Thinking of Trump.

WTF.
Trump cut a secret deal with the Mexican cartels, Mexican security chief Omar García Harfuch confirmed cartel family members entered US in a deal with the Sinaloa Cartel and the Trump regime.

President Sheinbaum is demanding an explanation from the US which tried to keep it secret.

Not mentioned in this story, but I still find it wild that cicadas emerge in prime-number cycles (17, in this case) in order to confound their predators. Evolution is amazing. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

Millions of red-eyed, singing cicadas will emerge across 13 states this spring, as Brood XIV — which last surfaced in 2008 — makes its presence known.

so true.
Don’t believe the lie about China being a 3rd world country by this administration. They are literally kicking the US’s ass in terms of infrastructure, climate change, EV vehicles, technology, fashion, healthcare. We’ve been lied to. Same goes for most European countries. I know I’ve lived there..

Good.
It isn't just MAGA that's nervous about these big crowds coming out for Bernie and AOC, it's also the Democratic establishment. They hate it more than anyone.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

Yes, but how about a promise not to provide one democratic vote for the continuing resolution keeping government open without getting Musk out and putting guardrails on Trump? That is the Dems real leverage, and I haven’t heard that promise yet.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

This was the moment, just over a month ago, when the ADL could've put an end to Republicans doing Nazi salutes. They didn't. They chose instead to provide cover by calling it "an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm." Now the sieg heil salute has been normalized.

The ADL literally had ONE JOB.

Here’s what is going on. When you start firing the military’s top lawyers, that means you are getting ready to order the military to do unlawful things. Trump replaces those JAGs with men who will justify any future unlawful and unethical actions that he wants the military to do.

The bipartisan efforts to demonize and criminalize pro-Palestinian protestors have also contributed to the lack of mobilization of civil society against Trump, and this was EXACTLY what the right wanted when they cynically exploited Democrats' racism/desires to suppress any dissent.
It’s very difficult to see how this assault on the constitutional order and democratic self-government can be defeated without a broad-scale mobilization of civil society.

But I’m also aware the Trumpists have been entirely clear they want to take radical measures to suppress protests.
