Your reminder that 29.3% of all revenue from indie bookshops immediately recirculates in the local economy 😊

That's 4x more than Amazon.

When you buy audiobooks through Libro.fm, you're supporting not only your indie, but your local economy.

After October 7, Biden told the Americans that Israel had suffered the proportional equivalent of fifteen 9/11s, which i do think was a helpful way to communicate the scale of devastation. Today, by the same metric, the NYT estimates that Palestinians have suffered the equivalent of 2,500 9/11s.

Somebody tell me which predator movies I need to watch before the new one. The new trailer looks sick but I have seen exactly zero predator movies.

"nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" is making the rounds again. what skinny feels like is the first bit of A Physical Education, and i gotta say, skinny feels like total garbage. can't form thoughts, cold all the time, literally doors are too heavy. plenty of things taste better than garbage

Heartbroken & devastated at Trump administration’s directive to end specialized support for LGBTQ+ youth callers to 988 hotline. This attack will DIRECTLY HARM American children. Youth using hotline are at their lowest point; specialized support is LIFE SAVING.

We stand with the LGBTQ+ community.

love living in a country where if a bunch of guys in gas station sunglasses and tactical athleisure throw you in an unmarked van you’re supposed to just hope it’s ICE because if you fight back it’s “resisting arrest” and now you’ve legally given them permission to shoot you in the head.
BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.

Happy May 1st. The value of your labor belongs to you and the actions of the state are best understood as as a coordinated effort to distract you from this. The state fears an organized and unified proletariat like it fears death and rightly so. Power to the workers and power to the people

Ugh this should be so easy, it’s not even like there’s a “good for the economy but morally evil” party and a “bad for the economy but morally good” party, there’s one party that’s like “minorities belong in cages AND we want you to be poorer” and they win elections somehow

PSA that we can support both our independent bookshop AND public library ❤️

They play such a vital role in our local communities, and they both need our support to stay open and keep offering valuable resources.

It's not either/or, but both/and 🥰

I don’t buy books on Amazon. Leftover from my previous life as an indie bookseller.

If you are freshly anti-Bezos, some of my favorite options:

📕 Buy Locally! Hopefully you still have a local bookshop.

📕 Bookshop.org

📕 Audio: Libby, Hoopla, Chirp, Spotify.
