Honestly, *this!* I wrote fanfic. I still write it. And occasionally get eyerollingly weary of other people's attempted ficmode-policing. (Which when examined closely is routinely all about their own insecurities, and nothing to do with the quality of the fiction, pro- or fan-.) ...Idiots. 🙄
We must stop talking about people who wrote fanfic as if it disqualifies you from ever doing anything else. Terry Pratchett wrote Jane Austen fanfic. Most published writers I know wrote some form of it. It’s a weird punishment for being open about writing it, often levelled by those who also do it.

The more I think about it the more I think that Baldur’s Gate 3 was the best thing to happen to videogames in a decade, not just because it was good, but because of how many good videogames we’re going to be getting 3-4 years from now because everyone saw it’s success

So pleased we have games like I Am Your Beast, Anger Foot, Rollerdrome, DOOM, and the "boomer" shooters nowadays.

There were two entire console generations where I forgot that, yes, I actually *do* still love shooters, I just wasn't enjoying the current AAA offerings.
