Day 30: THE FAR CRY (1951)
We end the month, fittingly, with an author whose endings always hit like brass knuckles. Fredric Brown’s masterpiece begins with a glum, burnt-out salesman investigating a cold murder. Don’t let anyone tell you how it finishes.

It's close to the end of the year and my last day off for a while so...why not?

How much cussing have I done publicly this last year, @profanity.accountant?

Just read: The Gunsmith: Three Guns for Glory, by Robert Randisi.

We've found one! A Gunsmith novel that I actually LIKED! It's a miracle!

Clint teams up with a young Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson while evading a family bent on revenge and helping the only daughter escape from her abusive kin.

One of my most favorite reads of 2025. If you've ever wondered what Diw Hard would have looked like if Cynthia Rothrock starred in it instead of Bruce Willis, read this book. Cinematic action, snappy one liners, likeable MC, this one has it all.
In the 90s, DIE HARD clones filled the action movie market. This year, better late than never, we published our entry in this subgenre.

Criminals take over a celebrity nightclub and the hostages only hope is one sarcastic bartender with a special set of skills!

Just to confirm: In 1997, we were excited to get blocky, skull fortresses like the one in Dissolution of Eternity for Quake.

That's the shit we lived for as gamers. Legit.

Day 29: ODDS AGAINST TOMORROW (1957)
McGivern’s titles are familiar to movie buffs, but his books deserve more readers. This racially conscious heist novel is even better than its classic film adaptation, richer in character and anecdote.

Very much this.

I respect anyone's choices on how and where to spend their money, but the Vast Machine being what it is means some of us have to use the system. You don't have to support us, but I would also appreciate not judging us.
Indie romance writers ARE small businesses.
And often the ONLY places to buy our stories are Amazon & Kobo
Most small bookstores don't stock indie romance novels in print.
And I've never heard of any of them stocking them in eBook form.

Reading two Adult Westerns (as most civilized men should do) and needed to start a third book.

Opened another Adult Western and said "Whoa"!

Maybe too much sex and spurs in my diet.

So I started a cozy fantasy instead. 😮

It's Friday! It's time for Inside The Video Store... that hour-long weekly series where I fetishize home entertainment labels and enthusiastically caress overpriced slipcovers...

(Without the previous tweet, that kind of makes no sense)

In any case! Viva physical media

I don't have many traditions, but playing Unreal Tournament deathmatch with my brother on Thanksgiving is one of them. We've done it since the early 2000s and just loaded it up again tonight.

They don't make them like this anymore.
