I’ll take a small victory lap here and say that this is because transit advocates (including environmentalists like NYLCV) ran extremely strong campaigns for increased federal funding, more stable state funding, and congestion pricing at critical points in the last five years to save the subway!

This is an appalling misuse of government resources by the City Council. These mailers are illegal electioneering and are also straight up lying about the ballot proposals (which are good, by the way).

This was an incredibly fun concert and exactly what I needed.
And I'm here, to remind you, of the mess you made

There’s a lot of work to do to fill the gap left by repeal of the IRA but not a lot of leeway to do it given that we also need to deal with cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital programs. Tackling NY’s insane permitting rules for renewable energy is a must-do for Gov. Hochul and the legislature.
Trying to put rooftop solar up in NYC a good way to get abundance-pilled. In Australia you call the solar installer and they put it up in less than week.

The numbskull who campaigned to close Indian Point, and then fought against the replacement transmission lines for years, causing pollution in New York City to soar… has thoughts.

New York City has the strongest campaign finance laws and best public funding program in the country and it really, really bothers me to see that system undermined by super PAC spending, not just in the mayor’s race but in several Council races as well.
The individual maximum a person can donate to a NYC mayoral candidate is $2100.

Mike Bloomberg just donated $8.3 million to Andrew Cuomo through a super PAC.

This is what a rigged campaign finance system, designed to let the wealthy buy elections, looks like.

Has a single NY politician who wanted to ban public mask-wearing in this year’s budget commented on ICE and other brownshirts wearing masks and refusing to identify themselves?
Here's a longer video of Brad Lander's detention just now inside 26 Federal Plaza as he tried to walk a man out of immigration court, by masked federal agents.

I am very very proud to know Brad and to be ranking him first on my ballot for mayor.

I am thrilled that NYLCV is endorsing Brad for mayor! I have known Brad since his first campaign for office in 2009 and I will be enthusiastically ranking him #1 on my ballot in June.
Thank you @nylcv.bsky.social for your #1 rank!

The climate crisis isn't just coming, it's here. As Mayor, I'll keep fighting climate change, preparing NYC for climate disasters, and delivering cleaner air, cheaper energy, and better transit.

Not ideal that on the day the Brooklyn half marathon floods Windsor Terrace and Kensington with both visitors (welcome!) and diverted traffic (very much not welcome!) the G isn’t running at all and the F is running with massive planned disruptions. Doesn’t seem that hard to coordinate better?

“Gasoline is more important than strollers” is such a perfect summation of the warped, self-destructive thinking pushed by fossil fuel and car companies.
Trump: "When you say strollers are going up -- what kind of a thing? I'm saying that gasoline is going down. Gasoline is thousands of times more important than a stroller someplace ... you don't need to have 35 dolls. You can have 2, 3, 4, and save a lot of money. We don't need to feed the beast."

I’ve been a lapsed Catholic for a long time but I find garbage like this and JD Vance’s heretical takes on Catholic doctrine to be genuinely offensive.
Despite seeing several people I totally trust say this was real I still felt I had to verify it with my own eyes. And having done so I still can't believe it's real.

A beautiful spring afternoon like this when the Financial District is flooded with both office workers and tourists really highlights the absurdity of allowing thru traffic in this neighborhood. What are we doing here?

I gave Governor Hochul a real hard time last year over the congestion pricing pause so it’s only fair that I give her well-deserved props for showing so much leadership and fortitude now in the face of the Trump administration’s illegal efforts to end the program.
The cameras are staying on.

I have genuine hate in my heart for the people responsible for this. I just can’t even find the words for how morally depraved ICE is.

I am a modestly sized man who rides the subway all the time and at all hours of day and night. Seems like Sean Duffy and people like him are just embarrassingly paranoid and scared of their own shadows?
Sean Duffy: "The truth is, transit across America is dangerous. And these liberals -- liberal mayors -- they want everybody out of cars and into trains but they made the trains unsafe so nobody really wants to ride them ... even big men don't want to ride the subway at those times of night."

Public transit in NYC could certainly be improved but it is dramatically safer and more pleasant than driving. The subway is only scary if you’ve been mainlining right wing fear mongering about it.
Duffy on the New York City subway: "It's dangerous. It's dirty ... they don't want you to drive your car. They want you to take a train. If you want me to take a train, make the train safe, make it clean. But if you won't do that, we're gonna pull money."

Phil Murphy is a disgrace. I truly cannot find the words to express how much contempt I have for him and Democrats like him.
I want to thank President Trump and Secretary Duffy for their efforts to halt the current congestion pricing program.

While I have consistently expressed openness to a form of congestion pricing, the current program lines the MTA’s pockets at the expense of New Jerseyans.

The people running the federal government hate New York City and want to punish people who live here for (by and large) having views and living lives that they dislike. Any gussied-up justification is working backwards from that desired result
