I would love it if @ruthgraham.bsky.social and the @nytimes.com would read my response to Graham's recent article on the Orthodox Church in the U.S. In it, I point out a flaw in the statistics on which Graham builds her story. I invite her to revisit.

Ah, the 1930s Germany frame.

But in the post-reconstruction era, America had Jim Crow, the resegregation of the federal workforce, and deadly pogroms against black people in the South.

We’ve been here before. It’s just it didn’t happen to white people.

Where do yall think Germany learned from?
Interesting question: if you were living in Germany in the ‘30s in which year would you call it and emigrate?

THIS.

And it also includes the silly, goofy, sweet, fun books, not just the ones that deal with tough stuff. We need all kinds of books.
Anyone who isn't sure that *story* is just as necessary for survival as food, water, and shelter must not spend much time around children.

#KidLit folks, please keep going. Yes, even now. Especially now. You matter so much.

Can I share some good news tonight? My new #book, That God's Works Might Be Revealed, will be out in April! It's historical fiction, a collection of 14 short stories about #saints and #disability and illness. I started work on it in 2021, and it is one of the most joy-filled projects I've ever done.

Anyone who wants to laugh/cry what's happening now in the federal government needs to watch "Johnny English Strikes Again." It's the same plot, though I worry we will not get the same happy ending. Kudos to my teenage son for recognizing the parallels immediately.
