Journo for last 20 years, somehow. Just got laid off, looking for opportunities, conversations, good vibes. I seek to serve the good guys.
It's exactly 15 years ago today - or maybe plus or minus a few years and/or another day - that I first gave myself permission to wear a hoodie without a t-shirt on underneath.

@raulpachecovega.bsky.social Hi Prof. Vega, another Bluesky user said that you have really helpful tips for taking notes - but the link they provided didn't work. Is this true? Is there a link you can share? I would be most grateful!

Hi #nonprofit #nonprofitsky #npsky, I was among those laid off from @npquarterly.bsky.social on Friday. While I would be loathe to "disparage" my former employer, it's a disappointing end. I want to keep working for the nonprofit sector and would be grateful for any job leads, tips, etc. Thx!

Dinner tonight with my boo Iris: stewed pork and chickpeas, broccoli, pearl couscous! #parenting

Just throwing this out there, and I expect not to be judged for it, but does anyone else feel like microwaves *take longer than they used to?*

Hi folks, it's a dark and stor.y night here in beautiful Plymouth, NH! I am up late putting in the last little bit for tonight on this wicked obstreperous - but vital - lead paint remediation project for baby. Anyway, going to post a bunch of photos of whatever!

@mzdeloffre.bsky.social thank you for the reference on note-taking! Then I clicked to see who you were, and you sound like somebody from whose knowledge and wisdom and expertise we at my company, Nonprofit Quarterly, would very much value. My chats are open, please drop a line if you like!

@staceyabrams.com Hi Ms. Abrams, my name is Isaiah and I am an editor for Nonprofits Quarterly @npquarterly.bsky.social - I admire your podcast, especially your writing and oratory, and doubly so with regard to your latest. I would be honored if I could snag you for a brief interview. Thx! - Isaiah

Hi folks! Does anyone have a good method of taking notes from books that works for them? Ideally, I want a system that is pen-and-paper, at least at first, because I think reading and then turning to a screen all the time sounds miserable and bad.

omigod, I just like 15 minutes ago discovered #DeLaSoul just put out a new album; obviously without Trugoy — but not without his presence. #Blacksky

Who's up? #UFOsky? Anyone?
November 22, 2025 at 7:20 AM
Hi #UFOsky, my podcast, UFO Focus, is coming back after a hiatus in which my little family bought a house and moved from Boston to Plymouth, #NewHampshire (in case there's any other NH folks out there) Can't wait to talk more UFOs in the coming weeks and months!
November 17, 2025 at 6:00 AM
So I just moved to Plymouth, #NH - f'n love this town. Any #NewHampshire #NewHampshireSky out there?

Errant thoughts on #TheBeatles, continued ...

3: As a kid, I thought the later stuff — the psychedelic stuff — was deeper, more mature. But as I mature myself, I find that stuff sillier and sillier and instead find depth in the songs that, as a kid, I found silly!

Errant thoughts on #TheBeatles continued ...

#2: I've never liked George, but the older I get, the more I actively dislike him. F'n "Taxman?" And don't get me started on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." More like gently strokes your ego, bro.

For no reason at all, I'm going to share some errant thoughts on #TheBeatles.

#1: So many of their songs, especially the later ones, are just ... stupid, lyrically. Almost cringeworthy. Especially John's! Even though, I kind of love John.

Anyone up at #ufosky?
November 14, 2025 at 4:50 AM
@pftompkins.bsky.social If you're actually still up, what do you say to a five-minute joke-off? That sounded dirty, I admit.
November 7, 2025 at 7:21 AM
I'm not saying that the greatest example of how the Internet has failed society is that no one likes the jokes I post late at night ...

... (But I ain't saying it isn't, mmm?)
