Every year I #knit for the #FreeStore15104 in Braddock PA. Shout out to #GiseleFetterman for the outstanding work there. Pic is the proof that my knitting is way out of control. 😁

Yes and also we all aren't outrage jukeboxes, you can't just press a button and have us be outraged on request. We're all allowed to focus on what we want and where we feel our voices will be effective right now, and trust that others will fight the other fights worth fighting. It's a group effort.
Them: Where was your outrage for [awful thing unrelated to the post they're replying to]??!

Me: ... Clearly you don't actually follow me on social media where I've been ranting for years. 🙄

A possible (unmentioned) contributing factor, based on recent experience with my dad, is that US hospitals make little effort to preserve mobility. My dad is rebounding with physical therapy at home, but almost lost the ability to walk after one week in hospital. 1/2 www.nytimes.com/2025/09/07/h...

Give Mamdani room to run not just his campaign but also his office when he wins it. No leader can possibly deliver 100% of what you or I want. That's not how democracy works. Take the 90% you get and work to get the rest in the future. Don't sacrifice good for perfect.
Mamdani's campaign has said that his agenda is viewable on his website and is distinct from that of the D.S.A.

“If Zohran has not publicly endorsed or spoken on a position during the campaign, it is not a part of his mayoral platform,” Dora Pekec, a spokeswoman for Mamdani, said on Thursday.

This is way way worse even than the NYT article makes it out to be

OpenAI absolutely deserves to be run out of business

#showmeyourknits #love My little rescue pup has more handknit sweaters than I do. But she's worth it. No pattern, I just knit freestyle to keep her warm in northeastern PA winters. #PipsqueakTheChorkie 🧶

The events of the past few weeks has my brain constantly uttering the notorious warning from @sarahkendzior.bsky.social “An unpunished coup attempt is a dress rehearsal for the real one coming “. We had our chance to prevent this and our Democratic “leadership “ did nothing.

Stress knitting. Something about the rhythm of the needles keeps my panic at simmer-level, instead of boiling over.

Waffle hats 1 & 2, Musselburg hat in sport weight.

Into the donation pile. Trying, as always, to make the world warmer and a bit more colorful. 🧶

Democratic lawmakers need to understand something:

Imagine your house is on fire. Fire truck shows up. Firefighters get out. They look at the fire, then at you, and say: "Such a fire is a grave threat. This house will not sustain."

And just stand there.

This is how many of you are coming across.

I don't have much to show on #WIPWednesday this week, but just look at this glorious sock weight striping set that just came in my mailbox today. Her semisolid dyeing technique is my absolute fave! #playatlifefiberarts on Etsy 🧶

i hate to be that girl but we're gonna need to really quickly move past complaining that everything is "unconstitutional" or whatever and start talking about what we are actually going to do to materially resist fascist attacks and defend marginalized communities. laws are fake. lives are real.

This makes me unreasonable happy.

I do a considerable amt of knitting for donation etc. This discontinued yarn used to be my fave worsted wt for making double layer hats. It's been d/c for a long time. I just found some on a resale site recently. Happy dance!

“But the people who died had preexisting conditions.” So what? Does that mean their lives didn’t matter? Does that mean they weren’t important? Disabled people can hear you when you excuse our deaths. Our lives have value.

#showmeyourknits Shawls? Oh, I got 'em! These two are my favorites, both knit for wearing to #StevieNicks concerts. Somewhere on YouTube there is a short snippet of an audience video of me twirling that gold one over my head during (what else?) Gold Dust Woman. 🧶
