Pigeons are named after the various things a pigeon has to fear (and there's a lot of those). Things like Hawktalon, Earlyfrost, Thunderstorm, Twistneck.

I write animal fiction so I was really inspired by things like Warrior Cats, Guardians of Ga'hoole, and the like. Came back and finished Watership Down as an adult as well as Tailchaser's Song-- both classics in the genre.
