Haven't read anything new in a while, but seeing @ibenkrutt.bsky.social's posts inviting others to read books from Abigail Hilton, I chose Hunters Unlucky given that it was xenofiction, and that's almost always better than yet another book about people.

Fun characters, and importantly written to be explicitly not human, and the world the inhabit is given enough life and variety to keep it interesting, not least in the amount of species present. While long, I found myself reading it in long stretches, and didn't get tired. Easy recommend :>

Aztec/Mayan Futurism + Spanish Colonial slum. All while being semi-abstract. It's a hard edge to walk. Some concepts are more successful than others. This is one of the first environment concepts I did.
