Finland's epidemic 23 Dec 2025: amount of virus in wastewater appears to have risen above the first Omicron wave. Post-Omicron baseline is permanently higher than pre-Omicron; repeated waves are showing no diminishing.

Covid is not "just a cold"
Study finds that despite broad COVID vaccine availability, COVID still deadlier than #flu in hospitalized patients

A #COVID diagnosis was associated with 76% higher odds of death within 30 days.

Very happy to share that I just published a new paper from my thesis! 🎉

We analysed 546 species of ant to understand how extreme specialisation into reproductive and non-reproductive roles evolved.

Vaccinate, isolate, ventilate: will we finally learn the lessons from covid this flu season?
With flu surging again, Stephen Reicher and colleagues draw on the experience of covid-19 to argue that predictable winter pressures demand more than individual responsibility, they also require syste...

Remember there is no reason for alarm. You can easily protect yourself with a well-fitted respirator. Back it up with air filtration and vaccination.

“Jiang and colleagues conclude, carefully but clearly, that their findings ‘redefine SARS-CoV-2 infection as a condition of long-lasting immune compromise’ and highlight lymphocyte dysregulation as a key immunological feature of Long Covid, particularly in people with cardiovascular disease.”
SARS-CoV-2 Leaves a Lasting Mark on the Immune System
A landmark new study shows COVID-19 isn’t ‘just a cold’: One infection left people with long-lasting immune damage, and those with heart disease lost up to 70% of key immune cells. Reinfections may wo...

My spreadsheet of #COVID19 studies has reached 2,900. It:
- Damages immunity for 20 months
- Raises risks of thrombosis by 75%.
- Causes more severe & frequent neurological impairment in kids
- Raises pro-inflammatory cytokines know to drive tumor cell proliferation.

The greater risk of heart inflammation to children comes from
COVID itself, by a considerable amount and it’s sadly far from the only health risk from
COVID. Why isn’t our health secretary saying this? Some of the media has been alarmist on vaccines.

Children face greater heart and inflammatory risks after COVID-19 infection than vaccination
The study is the largest of its kind in this population, and is published in The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health.

A recent scientific paper explored the impact of mass SARS-CoV-2 infections on Lymphocytes (crucial to the body’s immune system).

I noticed the authors had shared the data behind their charts in the Appendix Supplementary materials, so I built a quick dataviz project to explore.

🧵An example of the shenanigans and junk science accepted in medical journals.

In September 2023, JAMA Pediatrics published a ludicrously bad paper (quasi-retracted after much effort) claiming long COVID is "strikingly rare" in kids, supposedly vs the WHO definition.

RETRACTED: Post–COVID-19 Condition in Children
This cohort study assesses the parent-reported incidence and resolution of post–COVID-19 symptoms among children aged 8 to 13 years.

I just want to make this *abundantly clear*.

When “experts” say COVID-19 is mild for kids…

THEY HAD, AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TEN YEARS WORTH OF INFECTIONS WILL CAUSE.
