As I get older I realize this is one of my favorite scenes in THE EXORCIST, and its power is in its austerity. It’s pared down to its essence, and it carries the weight of the entire movie.

I have no opinion or working memory of ROGUE ONE but it’s been funny to see it rise and fall and rise so contentiously in the rankings over the years. It’s the only one of the SW films that does this to the degree it does
i would push rogue one down and bring solo and the last jedi up. i’d also place attack of the clones at the bottom.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

The nom would be for both roles, Nic Cage was nominated for both Charlie and Donald Kaufman in Adaptation., and Peter Sellers was nominated for all 3 roles he played in Dr. Strangelove

This reminded me of a dumb Oscar question I had: if MBJ is nominated for SINNERS, do they have to designate which role he’s nominated for? Or would the nom be for both roles?
Not remotely a 1:1 but Fredric March won for playing two roles (ish) in DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE in 1932. What happens here?

My most alienating Oscar opinion of the year is that Wicked pt deux is not a sequel but the simultaneously shot second half of one movie and that therefore it'd be weird to renominate the two stars. This isn't the Emmys; you don't get rewarded for the same role year after year. Will delete shortly.

Yep, one of the biggest drivers of the elite panic around “wokeness” was the increasing prominence of Black people and particularly Black women in their fields and we’re seeing that coalition rewarded with the targeting of Black workers.
