⚡️ Update: 'Something good just may be happening,' Trump says after US-Ukraine peace consultations.

Trump hinted at "big progress" in peace efforts after the U.S.-Ukraine talks in Geneva, saying: "Don't believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening."
Zelensky may reportedly visit US this week to discuss peace plan with Trump
The possible visit would depend on the outcomes of the U.S.-Ukraine consultations in Geneva, according to CBS News.

"European leaders, meeting today in panic mode, are paying a bitter price for their failure to seize the initiative. That is an indictment of their short-sightedness."

I expect to be reposting this every three months or so until the end of the Trump administration.
The more that members of the Trump administration talk, the more it sounds as if Plan A to stop the war was to coerce Ukraine into capitulation and Plan B was to keep repeating Plan A until it worked. When it became apparent that wasn't going to happen, they were out of ideas.

Every previous Trump attempt to force Ukraine and then Russia into agreements involved unrealistically quick deadlines that then fell apart as the Trump administration shifted to avoid acknowledging that its own position towards Ukraine and Russia is weaker than it claims it is

We need to stop calling it a ‘peace plan,’ even with sarcastic quotes around it. Call it the US-Kremlin plan or similar.
‘US-Kremlin plan’ shames the US and makes it sound deeply unappealing to the broader US and European publics.

A fascinating scene to understand how personalistic regimes work. First, there is an in-or-out decision by the leader. This is always in flux, deliberately uncertain and essential to extract rents and exert power. When you are on the inside the substance of what you say and do becomes secondary.

Russia’s worsening economic climate, growing budget deficit, bleak forecasts, and now selling off its gold reserves, all point to a Kremlin growing desperate. Suddenly we’re handed a 28-point ‘peace plan’ with neither Ukraine nor Europe included.

Coincidence?

We haven't heard of any concessions on the Russian side.

If Russia really wanted peace, it could have had agreed to unconditional ceasefire already some time ago.
