Meet Pedro A. Peres, who uses #genomics & #eDNA to study the spatial and temporal diversity of #DeepSea species. At #17DSBS, he’s presenting on how sampling strategies affect eDNA results and a 12-year genomic diversity assessment of deep-sea species in the Gulf of Mexico.

My interests in science are related to using genomics to answer questions in ecology and evolution, currently focusing on deep-sea species." Scrawled filefish as seen diving in Cozumel, Mexico. This one was probably close to full grown at around 18-20 inches (45-50cm). Love the mottled pattern with the blue spots. So beautiful. The black fish below it is a surgeonfish.
