Disappointed a politician won’t make an extreme and hasty decision in the immediate wake of a shockingly unusual event
Heidi Alexander, the transport secretary, rules out metal detecting arches at stations, pointing out that with the number of stations and entrances to each it's basically impossible. She says that overall, UK trains are a pretty safe place to be.

Tackling it means admitting a problem. The powers that be, and that doesn't even necessarily mean the government, are not it seems so keen on drawing attention to problems, especially since many share common roots pointing at them.
