WOW. This might be a first – a formal special marine warning for SNOWSPOUTS, or winter waterspouts.

These are the same as warm-season waterspouts, but they're forming beneath snow squalls.

It's because of the EXTREME contrast between the warm lake waters and frigid air above!

The CSSL/NTP assisted the US National Weather Service (NWS) with their upgrading of the official rating of the June 2025 Enderlin, ND tornado from EF3 to EF5.

Announced by the NWS today, it’s the first EF5-rated tornado in the US since 2013.

Officials confirmed Monday that a June 20th tornado near Fargo, North Dakota, produced EF-5 damage. This is the first confirmed scale-topping twister since 2013.
