If Americans had confidence in federal law enforcement, people would be unlikely to kick and scream and fight when they are seized, because they'd be confident that all would be sorted out soon. But instead we have been taught to never, ever get in the kidnapper's car.
Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

Good suggestion, thanks.
Thx Im planning on contacting Ford & Stellantis & others & asking if their CEOs agree with the racist comments spoken by Trump when they were standing behind him in the Oval Office today.

For SHAME that all of the witnesses remained silent while Trump spewed this vile racism.
OK I’ve put together the list. Shame on all of them:

Ford CEO Jim Farley
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa
General Motors plant manager John Urbanic
National Auto Dealers Association Chairman Tom Castriota
Transportation Sec Sean Duffy
Deputy transportation Sec Steven Bradbury

For anyone who knows anything about genocides and the incitement of genocidal violence, this is the kind of hair-raising stuff you find in transcripts of testimony before special tribunals.

Looking for books to get for #climate curious friends & family this Christmas🎄?

Here are 6 of my favourites reads this year.

First up, Yale University historian Sunil Amrith's relentlessly edifying 'The Burning Earth'. A staggeringly comprehensive account of how we got to where we are! 🧵

The extractive use of public lands is another manifest destiny outcome. By the end of the 19thC, it was apparent that the complete privatization of Western land was not possible: land wasn't productive enough. Yet, public lands, forests included, were used in unsustainable ways, and still are today.
This is a another great piece from @highcountrynews.org and @propublica.org (and not just because I am quoted in it).
Grazing fees on public lands are ludicrously low: the disfunction of our ag sector extends to public lands both in environmental terms and in favoring the richest "farmers".
The wealthy profit from public lands, and taxpayers pick up the tab - High Country News
Roughly two-thirds of grazing on Bureau of Land Management land is controlled by just 10% of permit holders.

Good news for us
Bad news for Hegseth, it turns out the Pentagon is a big bureaucracy filled with people who got there because they know how to fight bureaucratic battles and they will wait for you to lie about something then leak details about it. Who knew?
A most important question on the Sept. 2 double-tap strike is who had "target engagement authority" (TEA).

Wall Street Journal:

"A Defense Department official ... said Hegseth was the 'target engagement authority,' the key figure who authorized the strike."

Let’s force the issue, how about? House isn’t doing anything else useful!
"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor of the House of Representatives, and we know that's the case."

This is a flat-out 100% lie from @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and he knows it. Impeachment resolutions are privileged, they can force a vote at any time.
For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

“Don’t let the Democratic leadership tell us that there’s nothing that can be done!”
This to INFINITY. We have DOZENS of senators who must have some idea of what they can do. And what they can encourage US to do.
What can Senators do, some say. Ack.

Don’t let the Democratic leadership tell us that there’s nothing that can be done!

Just listen to these ten Senators, who know that much more fight and action can be brought, but Schumer and Gillibrand in the Senate and Jeffries in the House are killing action.
