Important reminder that programs like SNAP benefits only came to exist because their was a lack or need not being met in the communities. This just shows you how the affordability crisis has continued to shape our politics. We, as a country, have to stop half measures and tackle income inequality!
Want to get people off SNAP? Start with minimum wage. Had minimum wage kept up with inflation and productivity, it would be $26 an hour. That would remove 13 million workers from SNAP benefits overnight.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
