Brexit wasn’t abstract, writes The Bear.

It stripped out the NHS’s stabilisers – staff, medicines, safety nets – and left us running on fumes.

The cost isn’t just GDP points. It’s lives.
From promises to collapse: The measurable damage Brexit caused the NHS
Staffing gaps, medicine shortages and avoidable harm – the everyday reality of a broken Brexit promise

And it looks like the far-right is scapegoating immigrants in the UK, just like they are in the US.
14 years of austerity so bankers could keep their yachts while 20k police vanished, armed forces cut by 20%, childcare slashed, councils bled dry but given more to do, schools stripped, infrastructure left to rot, food banks normalized, and the economy reshaped to make reversing it near impossible.

Jacqui Smith called Musk's comments "dangerous and wrong" & "wholly unacceptable" on calling for violence. After a wobbly weekend, the pressure to notice what was said and to respond has got the government to an important baseline
LibDem leader @eddavey.libdems.org.uk has a focus on how significant Musk's call for violence was. I would like to see a strong cross-party response.

What country would be crazy enough to have an election system that gives extremist parties 100% of the power with just 31% of the vote?

This is what we’ll be telling parties to fix NOW if they want our votes in 2029.

PR has popular support, and no cost to implement.

Labour could do it right now.

There's no excuse of ignorance any more. Every single person on that fascist march knew who Tommy Robinson was and every single one of them knew why they were there.

This isn't Brexit. People weren't conned. They willingly went out to join in, led by a five times jailed thug. Stop making excuses.

This is what fascism looks like.

ICYMI, the eye-popper in today's PPI: a 39% rise in wholesale fresh vegetable prices.

It's the largest month-on-month increase ever recorded in the summer (data to 1947), and one of the ten largest ever, regardless of season.

Exactly. So dumb. Sending a show of force to pretend to intimidate a slimeball guy who loves the attention. Trump should realize Newsom is just a skinnier version of himself. Gavin lives for this. If Trump wanted to win he'd ignore him.
Newsom: "He's a failed president. Who else sends ICE at the same time we're having a conversation like this? Someone who's weak. Someone who's broken. Someone whose weakness is masquerading as strength."

The thing we absolutely must drive home to the public is that the Trump administration's immigration policy is being run by committed white supremacists. This is not rhetoric or hyperbole; it is absolutely literally true, and they're increasingly not bothering to hide it.
