I hope people understand that if Trump gets his way America will soon be part of the global axis of evil if we aren't already. You see it in the Caribbean, you see it in Ukraine, and you see it with Trump trying to buddy up to Xi. We are a malevolent force.

Would it kill somebody to say “Nancy is not stupid.” It pains me to see the WH press corps just accept the abuse. Sends the wrong image to Americans and the world IMHO.

This has nothing to do with crime. This is an attempt to crush political dissent.

Never before, in our entire 250 year history, has the military or immigration agents been used like this. It's dystopian, illegal, and it should stop.

If pundits would like to talk about violence, a terrorist recently shot up the CDC and another assassinated Democratic officials in Minnesota but they sort of let both stories disappear

Not as threatening as motorbikes in DC I know but maybe we could circle back?

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Final vote. 50-50. VP breaks the tie.

One single GOP Senator could have stopped this abomination. Saved millions of parents from watching their child go hungry. Saved the lives destroyed when Medicaid disappears.

They will all live forever with the horror of this bill.

Andry José Hernández Romero, I remember you, even if I do not know how to articulate my horror, rage, & sorrow at your treatment by my government.

No one has heard from you in 104 days.

As vigil, I’m posting a photo (or video) of you every day until you are returned from El Salvador.

We still have no idea who the ICE agents are. They could be insurrectionists, extremist militiamen or criminals themselves, chasing law-abiding citizens down the street for recording their kidnappings. The odds they aren't are low. Congress must raise hell about this. A masked gang runs our country.

Hey there Scott Walker. I noticed you deleted this after learning that in fact the shooter was from the right. I don’t think it matters either way, violence is violence, so I’m waiting for you to tweet the same thing with corrected facts?

Cuz you’re uh, to use your words, “being silent.”

Trump is aggressively incurious and ignorant about most things outside of thuggery and being on TV, but the new thing this term is that he’s made sure there’s nobody around him to correct him or tell him no. It’s not a good spot for the country.

This is a pretty important point!
The correct way to connect the authoritarian presence in LA and the Big Beautiful Bill is that the bill gives the government the resources to do this in dozens of cities at once. So if you don't like what's happening in LA, it's coming to your town if the bill passes.

Incredibly compelling article. The Silicon Valley-Executive Branch alliance is the greatest contemporary threat to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law in the US (and probably globally, too).
In my first op-ed for @nytimes.com, I argue that the alliance between Silicon Valley & the US government is a threat to democracy. The Republican tax bill now up in the Senate, which would ban states from regulating AI for a decade, will only cement that trajectory. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

So if Trump is meeting with these people who bribed him the most with his cryptocurrency in his "personal" capacity, then it can't be an "official act" and thereby shielded from prosecution with SCOTUS immunity if taking enormous bribes turns out to be a crime, right?

You mean to say, why do I live in a purple state where the right wing has methodically over decades leveraged systemic inequality into power? I suppose for the same reason I live in a purple country where the right wing has methodically over decades leveraged systemic inequality into power.
Why do you live in a right wing state? Do you ever feel like you're enabling them in any way by staying? Not judging, we all live in places we don't necessarily love. Just curious.

Just a reminder that Trump/DOJ continuing to let Abrego Garcia sit in CECOT is *a crime*. Deprivation of rights under color of law is a crime. Was it an "error" at first? Maybe. But once they were aware of the error, and ordered by a judge to return him, and then refusing, it's willful 1/
