How the BBC & ITV give disproportionate coverage to Farage & Reform: hard evidence from a serious study. BBC & ITV now give Reform more coverage than the Conservatives, more than the Lib Dems & nine times the Greens. Superb research from Stephen Cushion.

Recently been looking at teaching from an outside perspective with my insider knowledge and I don’t think many people realise how impressive it is that there are actual people who can hold the attention of 30 fifteen-year olds about something they haven’t chosen to study for an hour.

You have to hand it to John Crace in yesterday’s Guardian. This is one hell of an opening paragraph. The metaphor, the idiom, and zero wastage - every single line is a zinger in its own right.

Regardless of the topic, are there any better examples of political sketch-writing than this?

(Jeez, you’d think a guy who runs a zoo would know this.)

Those who think that BJ ‘did his best’ in ‘unprecedented circumstances’ is making two key errors: Failing to appreciate both the power and the data at his disposal. He chose not to use the former and didn’t want to understand the latter.

The patronising is the giveaway.

If you don’t agree with something, be an adult and lay out your argument.

No need to belittle your opponent.

Referring to people you don’t agree with as “kids” reveals who you are.

Now why would someone on a Murdoch paper have to resort to that?

Beats me.

This government could have taken on the super-rich to tackle inequality.

They chose to fan the flames of racism and embolden the far-right instead.

Our country needs a change in direction, now.

It’s time for a real alternative that redistributes wealth, ownership and power.

Labour must reset policies, boost purchasing power of the bottom 50%.

Median wage £30.432 (£25,431 net), bosses collect up to 1,112 times the average worker pay. 37% of universal credit claimants are in work.

Poorest in Slovenia and Malta better off than the poorest in the UK.

Must redistribute.
Why the reshuffle alone won’t change the government’s fortunes
"For better electoral fortunes, the government needs to junk neoliberal policies, never-ending austerity; directly invest in infrastructure and redistribute income and wealth."

It is kind of interesting, is it not, that the Guardian’s analysis of the Raynor situation, ostensibly as a left-leaning newspaper, cite Farage’s opinion on this matter rather than, well, anybody else’s? Why not Polanski’s, who has just as many Parliamentary representatives as does Reform?

For those of us who want solar panels but find their cost prohibitive, this seems like a good way forward. It uses collective power to purchase at lower prices, with support from your local council. Check if it’s running in your area and, if not, register interest here:
