Great shot. I haven’t seen so many Republican faces dreading what’s to come since McCain’s rallies on the first November weekend in 2008.

I mean, the Knicks were up 9 with 52 seconds left. That WAS a certified choke in that moment, win or tie.

All-timer of a Mr. Magoo outcome.
BREAKING: The Mavericks have won the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery.

Dallas had 1.8% odds to win the No. 1 pick entering today.

I was baffled why the NBA selected an Aerosmith song nobody ever liked in the first place for the playoff ads, but now I am starting to wonder if hearing ‘I don’t want to close my eyes/fall asleep’ every commercial break is subliminally powering me through a lot of these Western Conference games.

At face value: Remarkable

Facctoring in this era’s skill imbalance between pitching and hitting: Unimaginable
205+ Hits, 138+ Runs, 159+ RBI, 134+ Walks,
any 162-game span in MLB History:

Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Aaron Judge

SGA can be 2-10 at half of a playoff game and the Thunder can still be up 30.

If SGA went down for 10 weeks, the Thunder are still at least a 4 seed.

If Jokic went down for 10 weeks, the Nuggets are thinking lottery.

Love watching both. But in terms of most valuable…c’mon.

At the moment, I’m seeing this underneath 7 headlines on the NYT app.
This video shows the fire damage inside the Pennsylvania Governor’s mansion.

Governor Shapiro’s reaction to the arson attack is on my timeline.

A good consequence of the Giddey buzzer beater is that a national audience is getting an understanding of Stacey King’s broadcast greatness.

I watched the SNL thing DVRed today because I was watching the NBA All Star game last night.

What a monumental night for institutions people love to shit on despite not having watched since 1998.

Gotta disagree with Draymond.

Watching the age 30+ all stars screwing around against the rookies and almost blowing it was fun to watch.

- Pay attention to the way different people make you feel. Try to be like the ones that make you feel good or inspired. Spend more of your time with them too.

- Spend your working hours developing a craft or 3, preferably in something you find interesting that most people don’t.

- Read regularly.

Bulls: Sacramento

Realization:

Assuming my desire to get on my roof to install an antenna holds at zero, it’s going to be much easier for me to watch the Lakers the rest of the way than the Bulls in the Chicago burbs.

Luka is one of my favorite players right now. The Lakers are my least favorite team always.

Luka is now the future of the Lakers.

I hate this.

My thoughts exactly. Outrage, plausible deniability, fuckheads line up to defend, fuckheads start doing it to own the libs, eventually it’s in the mainstream.

Looks like we’ve entered phase 4.
the way this shit always goes down w/ the far-right is that somebody popular does or says something genuinely transgressive & winkingly tries to hide behind plausible deniability. then ppl copy it bc they have either been waiting for permission or want to troll. soon it just becomes a thing they do

All the ‘bad surprises’ (particularly the youth vote) have a very obvious link to Covid. That reality of the Covid catalyst is so obvious that it lacks novelty or insight. Rogan/podcasts/tiktok is an edgier thesis. But I’m wondering if people are forgetting the biggest contributor.
Good surprises since 2020:
Old people became way more Democratic
EC bias declined
R's have nominated terrible candidates

Bad surprises:
Zoomers are really right wing now
Tech moving right
Non-white support cratered faster than I thought it would
TikTok has been really bad
