"What happened last night is the most direct assault on the authority of Congress, I believe, in the history of the United States. It is blatantly unconstitutional," Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) says of Trump's OMB halting all federal grants.

"If this stands, then Congress may as well adjourn."

Always be in the side of the quakers.
Several Quaker groups, including one in Philadelphia, are suing the Department of Homeland Security after President Donald Trump’s administration rescinded guidance preventing ICE agents from raiding houses of worship.
Quaker groups, including in Philadelphia, sue to keep ICE out of religious sites
The lawsuit says “the very threat" of ICE enforcement deters congregants from attending services, violating First Amendment rights of religious liberty.

For nearly 65 years absurd effort and money has been poured into reducing congestion on the Schuylkill Expressway, to no avail.

NYC's congestion pricing has shown the answer may be simple: a small toll.

Commutes would be quicker and the money could be invested in road safety / regional rail.

Yes. This.
They should look at running it down to where the Conrail tracks pull off near Pier 70, instead of just running it for about a mile like they summarize in the survey

And while we’re at it, and a rain garden and some trees like at 53rd. Could even keep some angle parking by the barbershop.

Christian between 54th and 55th should be one way (westbound). This slip lane is super dangerous, and mostly unused. Every accident here I’ve seen has involved someone pulling out of here.

Streeteries like this one in Fishtown add charm to a public street in a way parked cars obviously don't.

An idea for Independence Mall is to replace some chunks of its vast swathes of grass with native grasses and wildflowers.

It requires no rebuild, would hold up much better in all weather, creates a more unique park, and harkens back to the earliest colonial and even pre-colonial context.

Just a sample of the trains I took last week in England and Belgium. It’s so nice to not need a car.

Philadelphia has a unique opportunity to reevaluate the stretch of I-95 through Center City and South Philly.

However right now it's on course to be rebuilt for $4.62 billion with construction lasting 17 years and ending in 2050.

Great to see Gov. Shapiro provide stopgap funding for @septaphilly.bsky.social today! Now we need the PA senate to pass long term funding to support the transit system that drives our state’s economy.

Could we keep a few of the @septaphilly.bsky.social Kawasakis after we get new trolleys? They’re vintage at this point. Of course we need higher capacity and accessible vehicles for every day use. But I hope a few stick around somewhere.

This thread goes into a reform I'm hopeful Philly will relegalize again.

Small lot narrow 3-6 story multi-family buildings, like are common in Old City, are made uneconomical today due to building codes. In most of the world these buildings remain crucial to the fabric of urban cores.
