Portland is a sanctuary city, & I'm going to fight to keep it that way.
Immigration enforcement isn't local government's role, & we're more effective & fiscally responsible when we don't do it.

The city of Portland was included in a list of sanctuary jurisdictions that received letters from the U.S. DOJ this week, threatening federal action if it doesn’t cooperate with immigration enforcement.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said sanctuary jurisdictions could lose federal funding, and officials there could face criminal prosecution if the Justice Department determines they are unlawfully impeding federal immigration enforcement.
Trump officials tell Oregon to abandon sanctuary law or face consequences
Gov. Tina Kotek was one of dozens of elected officials across the country to receive the letter.

@rjacobhoopes.com, godson of a dear friend, was detained by #ICE @ home in #PDX this week. The warrantless arrest was likely due to his peaceful protest re: the agency on 6/14.
