Pass The Torch
@passthetorchpac.bsky.social
As Trump and Republicans carry out a fascist takeover of our democracy, we need party leaders who can stand up and fight along every step of the way. We’re committed to supporting the next generation who will take the fight to Trump.
@kenklippenstein.bsky.social said it best. there are massive consequences to the selfish actions of the gerontocracy and we must take the torch if they don't want to pass it. Chip in now to get to work: app.oath.vote/donate?p=nex...

As we reckon with this catastrophic bill, and pull out all the stops to slow its progress.....hard to ignore that this would be a whole lot easier if 3 Dem seats weren't open because reps died in office instead of retiring.

It seriously sucks that this monstrosity now goes back to the House, where the margin will be razor thin, and where multiple Democratic seats are empty because the reps chose to try to hold onto power through the bitter end and die in office rather than retire.

Dems are showing up and demanding change. The old guard can go gracefully, or face the reckoning thats coming.

Ballots are still being counted but it's clear that a huge portion of America's largest city voted for big, bold change over a very broken status quo. That's worth celebrating and noting as we head into more elections. It's time to grab the torch.

The death of corrupt, corporate, gaslighting, we-can't-have good-things "centrism" may be nigh.

[I think "centrist" is a meaningless term only used to normalize obstruction.]

The old guard has failed to stop Trump -- not once, but twice.
We can’t keep fighting authoritarianism with stale tactics and cautious politics.
It’s time for a new generation of Democrats to lead the fight.

@kaine.senate.gov will create the next “it’s about judgment, unlike my opponent I did not support the Iraq War” line that Obama eviscerated Clinton with in 2008. If you want a future in Dem politics, you want to be on the right side of this.

Now more than ever, we need to confront this problem head on. Time to #PassTheTorch
“American politics would benefit enormously from an institution like the House of Lords—an emeritus track for those who are not vigorous enough for frontline politics anymore but not ready for a quiet retirement either,” @helenlewis.bsky.social writes.

It’s easy to feel powerless right now. Tanks in the streets. ICE raids in our cities. And Democratic leaders…tweeting through it.

We can elect a new generation -- leaders who won’t look away, who know what we’re up against, and who are ready to fight for our future. Join us: www.passthetorchpac.com

The Dem bench is deep, we just need to make it a little easier for them to jump into the races. Pitch in and help pass the torch.

This type of selfishly clinging to power is not what we need right now. It's time to #PassTheTorch
DC Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, who turns 88 this week, says running for re-election to the House. When I ask her to respond to those who wonder if it’s time for her to retire, she says: “I'm gonna run. I don't know why anybody would even ask me.”
Colleagues ask if Norton is still the best 'warrior' to fight for D.C. (Washington Post)

I'm Zach Wahls. A sixth-generation Iowan and a new generation of Democrat.

And I'm running for U.S. Senate to defeat Joni Ernst.

The sad reality is that in the last few months, three Democrats have died in office – while Trump’s budget passed the House 215-214. We have to do better. #PassTheTorch

Raise your hand if you're ready for this type of leadership 🙋‍♀️
The current budget bill is an atrocity and out-of-touch leaders like Chuck Schumer laid the groundwork by voting for the CR.

Appeasement and complicity do not work. When you bend the knee, they’ll break your leg.
