Iowa's House File 274, which would criminalize librarians, passes out of the House Education Committee. It can now be heard on the floor.

What this bill is, what it would mean for library and school workers, and why it was rushed through.

"how people get information and ensure that information is trustworthy"

*cries in librarian*
we have still not reckoned with the fact that the electorate didn't understand anything AND didn't know that they didn't understand anything

it will take a generation to correct this, to rebuild how people get information and ensure that information is trustworthy

Idgaf I’m still fighting for guaranteed healthcare.

Aspiration is the answer. Not just “we’re not the bad guys.”

We need something more meaningful than that. I want a future worth fighting for. They have no vision. We do. Lean into our strengths and knock them out. 👊🏽

I was wondering if libraries would slip under the radar of the new administration, but that sadly isn't the case. This is especially tragic considering how vital libraries are for remote and rural communities.
Trump Has ALREADY Attacked Libraries
This action is the first step in dismantling the Institute of Museum and Library Services and eliminating federal funding for libraries.

Another piece of good news that will have a hugely positive impact on people’s lives. Despite the grim circus of the oligarchs, good work in unexpected places continues.
