"People won't shop at Pike Place Market if they have to walk more than a block from their car." Dude, the whole market fits in the footprint of Costco.

Building market-rate/luxury housing relieves pressure on rents in lower-end housing. This is because absent the new luxury housing, wealthy people will move into older homes displacing lower income families. This process is called filtering. www.planetizen.com/news/2024/03...
How ‘Filtering’ Opens Up Affordable Housing
An analysis of 12 U.S. cities found that new market-rate construction often leads to more affordable units becoming available, but the effect varies across housing markets.

The libraries in Seattle are one of the most broadly used public assets.
It also makes it harder for them to ban books.

Would you rather live in a city where walking is a pleasant part of daily life, or one where people drive to the gym to walk on a treadmill?

Our house is filled with turkey cooking aromas. Dad starts cooking thanksgiving meals. I’m so grateful for him literally putting foods on the table all year long

Applying this to Seattle, that would be something on the order of 120,000 parking spaces.
“By 2030, Paris will have removed 60,000 parking spaces and replaced them with trees. That’s one of the goals outlined in the French capital’s new 2024-2030 Climate Plan, which was released last week and will soon be voted on by the Council of Paris.” www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

You might not know this but your local library probably has an app where you can borrow ebooks and audiobooks, for free! Some have apps that let you borrow digital comics too.

My library subscribes to Borrowbox and it's great, I constantly have 2-3 audiobooks on loan.

Support your local library!
