My worldview is shattered 🤯
I just learned the Bugs Bunny No meme doesn't even come from him saying no. It's a frame rotated 90 degrees from him taking a drink from a bottle. I needed to share this.

I have seen this and now you have to as well :|
Vaginal speculum (c.1820) used to apply leeches to a woman’s cervix to remove excess blood thought to cause illness. This speculum used a scissor-like action to expand. It locked open, freeing the physician’s hands to apply the leeches.

Rebecca was one of the founders of Interplay and programmed & designed for some of the most influential games of my youth, notably Bard's Tale I & III and Wasteland. She will be missed.
My trailblazing game industry bad-ass friend Rebecca Heineman has passed away.

Fuck cancer.

Friends, let’s not forget her: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca...

In the age of AI, Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein gets the monster right:

-Preening college dropout founder desperate to troll and provoke
-Secures financing from war profiteer
-Unethically harvests key materials for startup from people living and dead without consent
-Takes 0 responsibility
Guillermo del Toro's 'Frankenstein' gets the monster right for the age of AI
Too bad he lets the founders off easy.

Oh hell yeah!
THIS IS HUGE! Researchers have just identified a powerful new antibiotic that is 100x STRONGER than existing drugs against deadly superbugs like MRSA and VRE. Hiding in a well-known soil bacterium, pre-methylenomycin C lactone KILLS drug-resistant bacteria WITHOUT triggering resistance.

Fuck yeah
The definition of audacity: ICE asking WA tribes to host detention centers.

They got a very polite “fuck off.”

“The Nisqually people are not in favor of, nor will the tribal council allow, the detention of individuals by ICE on our reservation or in our facilities.” - Tribal Chair E.K. Choke
ICE looks to WA tribes to house detained immigrants
The Nisqually Indian Tribe says it is turning down a request from ICE to house detained immigrants on tribal land.

Finally some positive news
A seven-year #WSU study found that neglected spaces like old golf courses and powerline corridors in Puget Sound host surprisingly rich bee populations — more species than nearby farms or parks. news.wsu.edu/press-releas...
Bees thrive in overlooked pockets of Puget Sound
Seven-year survey finds that weedy plots of land near airports and beneath power lines sustained healthy bee populations.

I am on my way home to Toronto and the aurorae are absolutely phenomenal.

If you are anywhere in the northern half of the continent, get outside and look up! Or better still, put your camera on a 10 second exposure and point it up.

Holy crap, this is so grim. I've never heard of this system and it blows my mind how many kids got screwed up by it.

I thought this was a bit, but no, he's sincere. What an absolutely bonkers take. It makes sense he's cheering on the extradudicial killings of random people in boats in Venezuela.
All drug use outside palliative care should be criminalized and possession of dealer quantities should be punishable by death without appeal.
