The employee asked the girl and her mother if they needed help shopping. That’s it. That’s all. The misinformation, the insinuations (because the facts are inconveniently benign) are EXACTLY what was done to lesbians in the 80s. This is the product of hate and fear, not reality.

Between 2011 and 2023, 816 care homes in England were forcibly closed by the regulator for poor standards and harms to residents.

804 were owned by for-profit entities. 30% -40% of fees vanish in profits, leaving less for services.

Profits and care don't mix.
New analysis: most care homes closed by industry regulator are run
A new analysis led by researchers at the University of Oxford and funded by the Nuffield Foundation has found that virtually all care homes forced to close in England by the Care Quality Commission

92 years ago today, the Nazis raided the Magnus Hirschfeld Institute for Sexuality, where the first study of trans people was conducted, and burned all of its contents.

Fitting that today is also the day SCOTUS greenlights the project of the eradication of trans people from society in the US.

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge.

As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do.

They can't keep spewing carbon.

They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying.

They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

It has been pointed out to me that the cover of the first edition of my book would probably be banned for being too DEI in the US. I am of course extremely proud of that, and in excellent company.

Had not occurred to me to think about Musk’s charity work. US tax experts might want to consider his donations to his own non-profit enterprises. And as most of its assets are Tesla shared there could be trouble ahead.

Every major UK newspaper - left, right, broadsheet, tabloid - is running a front page campaign against copyright carveouts for AI training.

I can't remember the last time any political cause had such broad support, let alone one so anti-big tech and so economically consequential.

I'm not easily shocked, but the sight of individuals cheering on the richest man in the world as he takes away vital aid to the most desperate people on this Earth has shocked me.

There are good people. There are bad people. Then there's Elon Musk and his empathy devoid flesh failure followers.

"UPF, at least so far, doesn’t seem to clear that bar — it casts a net that manages to be overbroad while excluding some unhealthy forms of processing that have been around longer. "
This article really hits the nail on the head about so-called "ultra processed foods", a meaningless category so broad as to group together tofu and twinkies as if they had the same health impact.
You’re being lied to about “ultra-processed” foods
Coverage of the latest nutrition buzzword is overly broad, arbitrary, and wildly misleading. The problem goes deeper.

Yesterday, I resigned my Labour Party membership. I wish the government well doing all the things I hoped they would do, but I cannot support Wes Streeting's decision, and still claim to be a trans ally.

Pretty unimpressed with reticence over EU, too.

How about no actor who takes a role in the new Harry Potter TV series, no matter who they are, gets the time of day from any LGBT+ organisation, or anyone who gives a shit about trans people, ever again?

That's the appropriate response.

They, and all their future endeavours, can get fucked.

TODAY IS #HumanRightsDay

Let’s remember Human Rights are universal & non- negotiable.

If we start stripping away basic human rights from any section of society then none of us has rights – just privileges that can be taken away by people in power whenever they want
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage says

“We need to leave the ECHR so we can deport people that come illegally & take back control of our borders & that’s what the public wants”

Share if you disagree with his populist boll**** the UK should join Russia & Belarus outside the ECHR

Can't believe that Channel 5 haven't pulled its programme "Inside Harrods at Christmas" which includes lots of footage and discussion of how great Mohammed Al Fayed was.

I know it's an old programme, but ...
