Hmm... not sure how I feel about this.

If you mean Transit App, Royale (the paid subscription) gets you buses that are farther away and the ability to move the dot around more freely but as far as I know all of the buses near you are visible on the free version.

I'm also not sure "people going downtown" is the highest and best metric for the City of Seattle--or any city but this is the one I happen to live in--to be chasing. e.g. I live in Northgate, the official neighborhood of Freeway Ramps for Suburban Commuters, and would like some calm streets.

I think Viadoom and the other major construction projects we've had that reduced throughput for people driving their own cars into downtown, while increasing capacity for people taking transit into downtown, showed that Going To Downtown modes are elastic and people adapt.

Exactly. I feel like a rube (not *genuinely*, just a gut reaction probably to capitalism) when someone asks me if I need parking validated.

But then I remember I'm not spending over a grand a month on a car which is why I can afford to shop at places that validate parking sooooo...

Yeah I think the Kroger Company just dislikes their customers. Target (I know, I know) and Costco don't have any issue with it. I haven't tried Safeway; I'd be afraid of being shot out of a cannon from the store if I did.

I have zero proof of what they do but knowing how US companies work, I would not be shocked to learn they keep all of it.

(I don't know if there's a state law prohibiting this data collection; I would like it if there was.)

The only place I've encountered that really cares is QFC. They have to get a manager to override for entering the DOB.

Where has been an issue for you? I want to know where to avoid :D

Yes, and that's why I never use my state ID for that purpose: All of the information on the front of the card is encoded in the code on the back of the card, including full name, address, and unique document number.

I have a Passport Card and like it.

Obscure but related tangent: I had to have a Lively Discussion(tm) with an Internet numbers registry about this because their form and auto-reply email said "driver's license" (they are American but serve the whole continent) and it took a couple of rounds to get them to "any government ID". Sigh.

I love that she means it as a unifying force. He meant it in the same vein as the joke "One Microsoft Way: it's not just an address, it's a philosophy."

The only non-commuter use for light rail is going to the airport or a sports event, per outgoing Mayor Harrell, so this will free up a lot of space on the trains
