Mercifully shut down, you say?

From your lips to God's ears, Terrence.

The writers of Murdoch Mysteries have officially had it with their southern neighbo(u)rs.

When you find your favo(u)rite transit route--Driver In Training--in *two* other countries.

Thank you very much, transit operators! I hope you have an awesome time.

Already processed! Neat!

Very familiar to anyone who lives in Puget Sound...

Darn it, Sound Transit.

I'm not very nostalgic, I don't need places to stay the same (I'd rather they thrive, even if that means change) and that said: I think Tea Republik on the Ave is my favorite place in Seattle. I've been coming here off-and-on ever since we moved here 14 years ago and it's not one iota different.

I just met M, whose name I’m keeping to myself, who works the night and overnight shifts here at a data center complex in Tukwila. They don’t drive and rely on the late night route 124 to get to and from work. Today, they’re riding it to the Mariners game! All-night service is good.

I got a button maker to make some for this Saturday's tabling event and Office Depot had some really pretty Astrobrights paper alongside TRU's Galaxy Gold iconic color and so I have now made forbidden @seattletru.bsky.social buttons. 🫣

I'd post pictures from the show (ok here are a couple) but they absolutely do not do it justice. It's a night of clever people talking about fascinating topics (math logic! machines! mushroom suits!) in accessible ways and no seriously just go if you can.

Even if you don't live in Toronto (I'm not so fortunate), I think you should go to this. I had the thrill of going in January 2020 and it was an absolute blast. People who are nerds about *anything* will have a great time.

I own an electric bike but my wife and I get around almost entirely by foot and transit. You don't have to live within walking distance of a light rail station (but it helps, of course).

You can own a Costco membership without a car, too. A couple of good carts and backpacks carry a lot.

Come check out Bellevue’s first Park(ing) Day! @completestreetsbellevue.org is putting on a grand event and @seattletru.bsky.social is helping.

We are on 102nd and 1st just south of Downtown Bellevue Park, two blocks from the 550 and a few blocks from East Main Station.

I have finally ridden the Tacoma T Line Link Streetcar Light Rail Train
September 18, 2025 at 10:55 PM
And that’s it! We arrive in Lakewood seven minutes early, so my 594 back to Tacoma is still here waiting for me. No 20-minute wait for the next bus, woo!

Apartments are going up next to the station…maybe they’d like all day rail service?

Thank you for riding Sounder!
September 18, 2025 at 4:07 PM
Surprisingly, the train more or less emptied out at Puyallup. There are just a couple of people with me as we trundle into Tacoma Dome (which I will be back to this afternoon but am just riding through today).

(The Portland-bound travelers exited.)
September 18, 2025 at 3:51 PM
The train makes the semi-controversial decision to pronounce it “pew-allup” (instead of “poo-yallup” or something else) but we get here all the same. This is the furthest south I’ve ever gotten out at Sounder and it was for an ORCA card event years ago.
September 18, 2025 at 3:40 PM
We reach Sumner right on time. This is a station I’ve never gotten off at and have no idea about other than the car dealer ads from baseball… the train windows could use a wash.

And now Auburn Station which, like Kent, has amenities and some land use that make it worthy of all day, all week rail service. But, disappointingly, the very closest use is a massive parking garage. Auburn used to have Amtrak trains until 1978.
