I hated La Roux's Bulletproof the moment I heard it for the first time in 2009 and again every single time I heard it in the first few years after that and it still horrifies me when people play it as a fun nostalgia track, her voice is like nails on a chalkboard, awful awful song

Wait what’s the deal with this “WWII veteran turns 100” story. The second-biggest news story of the year?
I like the abundance stuff from an “it’s good policy and doing good policy is good” perspective, but politically I do think a lot of people need to consider the fact that the USA has unusually abundant housing among Anglosphere countries, and also has an unusually strong far-right movement.
What is the actual evidence that housing is driving political shifts other than “it would be highly convenient for us blue-state YIMBYs if our pet issue was the skeleton key for Democrats”
I'm extremely down on the materialist understanding of politics but the *one* material condition I'm willing to concede might actually be largely responsible for our political dysfunction is housing.
